What a week. I just did a big activity for the children at our church. We've all taken turns being sick with the stomach flu, myself included--well my daughter is the only one who hasn't gotten it....fingers crossed that she doesn't! So it's been hard to get a lot done! Luckily we were all well today as my husband was such a big help setting up, making pancakes, and cleaning up! It was a fun pancake breakfast activity, but glad it's done!

Berry Basic Template Set 1

Well I know it has been awhile since I've had a new release, I guess Christmas time was busier than I thought! It's been a nice start to the new year, trying to get into a routine again. I am loving the fact that we aren't going to move again any time soon. I feel like I can live a normal life again! I can get back into deep cleaning and on my regular cleaning routines that make me feel like I've accomplished something good for my family every day.

It's been a good time for me to re-evaluate how I scrap too! Here is the result of that: a new line of templates called Berry Basic. Here is Berry Basic Template Set 1, which will be 25% off for two days at Scrapbook-Elements.

Berry Basic Template Freebie

I am so excited about getting lots of scrapping done! My goal for the month of January was 8 events. I now have 11 events scrapped and that comes to a total of 17 pages, and we are only half way through the month! I don't think I've ever gotten so much scrapping done in such a small amount of time :) Here's one of the many pages I've done with a matching freebie template!

Scrapbooking Goals for 2012

Love that quote! I've been thinking about my scrapbooking goals for this year. I did okay last year, a little better than 2010, not quite as many pages scrapped but more events. I got 126 pages scrapped last year and 50 events done. At least I got closer to my goal this year than last! One of my new year's resolutions is to not move this year :) Hopefully that will help me to actually complete my scrapbooking goals this year!

I've become very inspired by the layouts from Weeds & Wildflowers, particularly Gina's. I have tried in the past to scrap with the idea that I will do one page very detailed for an event, and the rest very simply. But then I get into doing a 2 page spread and it takes just as long. So now that I've found some inspiration for simple layouts (although mine aren't quite so simple), I am scrapping WAY faster! I want to get all these pictures/memories printed into books so we can enjoy them easily! Here's an example:

So now that I've finally sped up the process a little, I've made some goals for 2012. I'm all about do-able goals, and so I've calculated exactly how many I need to do to get my family blog post events (2008-2011) and the rest of 2008 done. I have the goal of scrapping 100 events this year. I'm off to a good start I think with 11 pages done this year and 7 events done. Here's how I keep track of what I need to scrap:

The first column of 1's is the "to do" pages, the next is "in progress", and the last is "done". I also write down the date I complete the page. I just love to make checks off of lists once I'm done with something, so this is my little checklist. Sometimes I'll go through and type in a kit I'm thinking of to use for that event on the right of the event, that saves a little bit of time!

Nativity Wordart and Firecat Elements

It's the most busy time of year! It's also pretty wonderful too! I just feel like this week has been a whirlwind! I love all the Christmas traditions and I'm so glad that I have the time this year to fully enjoy them! It's been a busy week with my calling at church--trying to get ready for the new year, and also trying to gets lots of baking done and treats delivered to family and friends! Also, with the last day of school before Christmas break comes the parties and gifts and all the fun things. It was so nice to sleep in this morning though!

I have some oldies but goodies as a my new releases this week. This was a freebie I made last year, and finally remembered to put it into the story. These wordart clusters were made using my Nativity Mini Kit. You can find Nativity Wordart Clusters at Scrapbook-Elements and 25% off for two days!

Wow what a fun week we had! We spent a couple of days in Lake Arrowhead, CA then came home to do laundry, and then spent a couple more days in Queencreek, Arizona. It was a great time with family, relaxing, eating, and doing fun little projects! With all the fun I forgot to do my blog post with my new releases!

The first one is "Firecat Templates" embellished with pastel elements: a fire cat, a firetruck, a fire hydrant, and a fire hose. This pack will be on sale along with the rest of the store at 40% off until the end of the day at Scrapbook-Elements!

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, mine was delicious! We actually did some Black Friday shopping last night and today, and got pretty much what we wanted! We never do Black Friday shopping, so it was a new experience, and one that my husband never wants to repeat, even though he got a nice new TV and he got me a .......drum roll.......Cannon Rebel camera!!!! So excited! He did the hard shopping. I did the casual shopping today that I didn't get up early to do. I'm not much of a shopper anyway, my husband is always in a bad mood if I take him shopping, so I was so surprised he was willing to go last night! Yea for me and many thanks to my husband!!!!

The last few boxes from our move have been driving me a little crazy. Right after we moved in I found a bookcase at a garage sale but when they had painted it they didn't let it dry all the way before putting books on it so it had paper attached to it in several places. I finally got it sanded down and repainted this week! But I'm trying not to resist the urge to bring it into the house and fill it up with books to soon and make the same mistake. I used oil based paint so I think it needs a full two days to not be tacky (and not stink up the house). One more day before I can bring it in! THEN I can unpack those boxes full of books we've never had room for before! I love books and it is so hard to get rid of them. I am one of those people that could spend hours and hours at a bookstore/library. Barnes & Noble is like Disneyland. Even if I just drive by my heart goes ahhhhhh.....

Wow! It's been over a month! We are feeling pretty settled in our new home. I hung pictures this week, so it is feeling more home-y :) We had a fun Halloween but I'm ready to take down the decorations! Gearing up for Thanksgiving and thinking about Christmas presents already! I'm so glad we didn't wait until Christmas time to move again (like last year).

I've been trying to get back into the swing of things before Digital Scrapbooking Day creeped up on me but it has been so busy with church. My calling is in Primary (over children 18 months to 11 years old) and we were in charge of our Trunk or Treat activity for the whole ward and we are also getting ready for our Sacrament program that we do once a year. I completed a goal yesterday! I am now completely up to do date with my Halloween scrapbook album! (I still need to print up the last few pages I scrapped, but it feels so good!) To be caught up on one thing! Remember how I got all caught up on my Easter Album? That was cake compared to Halloween. So many pictures! Big events like that can be frustrating at times because it takes so long for me to get it all done. My next goal....Christmas......but I'm going to hold off for a bit, and get some other miscellaneous events scrapped before I tackle that one.

How's that for confusing? My new template sets are single 12x12inch size templates, but look great as two page spreads or for your single pages, whatever you are in the mood for! Speaking of moods, it's been a great last week of summer! Not too crazy, just enough productive activities (like getting ready for school next Monday-aaack!) with just enough fun. I had a GNO, seeing The Help. I just finished reading the book a couple of weeks ago. SUCH a great book--and I had heard that the movie was just fantastic also, so I was excited to see how it compared. Yes, they changed a few details but I thought they did such a good job getting the essence of the book. The acting was superb and I loved seeing the story come alive. I was surprised that I cried since I already knew what would happen from reading the book. I don't feel very comfortable crying in public, so you know it was good coming away from the movie all emotional. Have you seen it? What did you think?

I went to THIS exhibit today all about Harry Potter! So fun and inspiring! I still haven't seen HP72! I want to so bad! I was supposed to see it with my sister last week, but my husband got home from his week long scout trip a day early so that nixed those plans. And it's been so busy ever since! My husband and I almost went tonight but.....we had to be responsible parents and get our kids into bed early. Now we are thinking of watching all the movies before we see the last one. We'll see how long I last waiting......

Overwhelmed much?

Do you ever get overwhelmed scrapping big events like Halloween, Christmas, or weddings? I love having these pictures in our scrapbooks, but there are always so many photos to scrap that I put it off in favor of other shorter events with less photos so I have that sense of completion. Well you gotta get around to them sometime right?

Another problem I have is, since I print out my pages, I want to make sure I don't have toooooo many to print out. Printing more pages costs money and sheet protectors and books and space and etc.... I like using traditional scrapbook albums because I like having separate books for all the holidays and then I'm able to add to them each year. I love having them out as a "decoration" for that holiday.

Soooo, what I've found is to keep the overwhelming feelings at bay, I try to create the files for each page first, and drop in all my photos for that event. Once I've organized them and placed them in a layout (no resizing, no cropping, just placing),

I put the photo files in a new folder labeled "scrapped" within its own folder for that whole event. That way I know how many photos I have left.

I give myself flexibility to create more or less layouts but at least this gives me a plan. Then I have 4 to 10 layout files all ready for me to scrap at my leisure!

Well, we went camping this week, but it was a little different than normal. My husband recently got a new job so our vacation plans changed sort of suddenly, meaning he won't be taking vacation right now! So I ventured off into the wilderness with my 3 kids to meet up with my parents and siblings. They did help me out, but I was still the only one in charge of my kids. Boy did it make me feel grateful for my husband and how much he does when we go camping as a family! It was a little harder and more time consuming, but I did it! I know the kids had fun and I had some too!

Wow I am writing this on Friday, trying to be all ready ahead of time. In the middle of writing this my 3 year old son split open his head on a book case. We had to take a trip to Urgent Care, but luckily he just needed glue, no stitches. It's kind of funny with Harry Potter coming out today, because now my son has his own authentic scar on his forehead! (I can't wait to see Harry Potter!) What a day though. As soon as we got back from the hospital we had to get ready for my daughter's swim meet (last one!). But it's over now, so now I can watch Mary Poppins with the kiddos!

One more week of swim team for my daughter. I have to admit I am looking forward to it. It's been fun to see her grow as a swimmer and learn so much, but it's been 4-5 days a week of swim for almost 4 months now! Now we've been flexible with vacation and other events going on at the same time, but I am looking forward to a few lazy summer mornings. 2012 Calendar Templates

We had such a fun week going to the beach a couple of times, my daughter had a swim meet last night-which she did great at, and today we are going to a family swim party. That is not leaving me a lot of time for designing. I thought I'd have more time during the summer, but with 3 kids I'm so busy having fun with them! I also haven't been doing as well with working out this week (and eating lots of junk!). I did run this week and I went on a 10 mile bike ride but that was it. Usually I do pilates and weights and some other cadio. I don't beat myself up too much if I miss a day here and there. My goal is to work out 4-5 days a week and if I just get in 4 I'm happy, but only 2 days is pretty poor. Well, I will try better next week. I did get some weeding done this morning in our sad looking backyard, so that was a little bit of arm workout, right? Anyway....

Berry Fun Template Set 12

Well the first week of summer wasn't exactly what my kids expected. It's been so cool! They've been expecting swimming, splash parks, slip-n-slides, lots of wet. But we've had to replace those with trips to the park, park, and park (all different parks though). It's been nice and relaxing, but not too boring. Just enough activity to keep them busy, but not bug me every two minutes about what we are doing next!

It's been awhile since I talked about my scrapbooking goals. Probably because I've fallen a bit behind! I didn't do too well in April and May, but I DID scrap so kudos to me for doing a little. I heard on the radio the other day that goals aren't meant to be met perfectly but to move us along farther than if we didn't set them! And I think I was motivated to scrap a little because of my goal to scrap 6 events per month. Well since I fell behind, I've bumped up my goal to 7 events per month. And I can do it! I'm trying to scrap more simply so that I get more done faster. I like a simple look anyways, because I want the focus to be on my photos. I'm off to a good start this month, so I'll check in again next month and see how I did!

Here's a page I just did using my Looking for Rainbows Kit (with a few colors changed!). What a special day this was!

Last week was Spring Break for my kids and I totally took the whole week off of designing. It was actually nice. Usually designing helps keep my sanity by doing something creative. I am a little late blogging, it's been a bit crazy around here. But I am so happy to share my new kit Looking for Rainbows! My daughter will be turning eight very soon, and in the LDS church that is the soonest someone can get baptized. So I had to make a sweet kit for some invitations and of course scrapping after the event! A few of these elements used to be a freebie I made along time back, but I did redo them (for the second time), so the edges are crystal clear! This kit would actually work very nicely for baby blessings or weddings.

I also created an add-on cluster pack.

March Template Challenge

How are your goals coming along? I didn't quite meet my goal last month. My goal was to scrap 6 events. I only did 5, but it was 9 pages. Yesterday, March 1st, I finished up 4 pages that I'd been working on so I've got one event done already this month. I'll try to make up for not meeting my goal last month by doing 7 events this month. I'm already off to a good start!

Well here's a template to help you get motivated to get some scrapping done. It is the Template Challenge at Scrapbook-Elements and you can download it from HERE.

Monthly Goals

How are your scrapping goals coming along? I did pretty well in January. I surpassed my goal of 6 events and did 8! I scrapped a total of 16 pages. Not too shabby! I'm already off to a great start for February.

I also bought some way cute $10 scrapbooks from Michaels with some extra sheet protectors. One scrapbook is for my Easter pages, to be put out and looked at during Easter time. The other one is for Halloween. Can you guess which one is which? ....What a great Halloween book--black, but so chic!

This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time. It was exciting to finally put everything together since our family started almost 10 years ago. I had a few 8.5 x 11 pages, but I just picked a matching 12x12 colorful paper to put behind the page. My Easter book is so exciting because it is totally caught up! I even redid some pages that I did not like. (I just have to print out a few pages-but everything is scrapped at least!) Take a look at these embarrassing layouts-they were originally 8.5 x 11 layouts.

And here is my redo:

Just being able to lighten up and work on the cute picture of my daughter holding up the plastic egg, makes this redo so worth it. But I am also so happy with the overall results! I think this is the first time I've ever redone pages. My philosophy is usually if it's scrapped, it's done, move on. But this one was really bugging me!

LDS Blog Train: Scripture Heroes

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We call ourselves LDS and/or Mormons. I have a few products I would like to highlight that have been inspired by my beliefs. Most of them could be used for general religious themes, but some are pretty singular to the LDS faith. If you are here for the LDS blog train your freebie is at the bottom of this post. This one is for specific Primary songs, but due to copyright you can add the lyrics yourself, lucky you! I include a link in the download so you can just copy and paste. I got mine printed and I am so happy with it!

And now for the freebie! What a fun LDS Blog Train! My plan was to have enough doodles for each Primary song the kids are singing this year. The theme is I Know the Scriptures are True. So then you could make a coloring lyric book. You know the little books kids make at school where they make the pages thicker by folding them in half and then stapling them on the side where the edges come together? Am I making any sense? Well I still want to make some for my kids, but I've got to get the doodles done, so stay tuned!

New Years Resolution

What are your scrapping goals this year? How did you do last year? Did you accomplish your goals (do you even expect to accomplish them or do they just drive you in the right direction)?

I was looking at how I did in 2010. I did the most scrapping in January then stayed pretty constant until I reached November and December. Granted I moved and it was Christmas time and I was potty training and..... yada yada yada. So the numbers are in! My goal was to scrap 82 events. Not 82 pages, but 82 events. An event could be anywhere from 1-10 pages but average 2-4. I scrapped 45 events and 142 pages. I am pretty happy with that. I would have liked to get a little more done but I did get pretty side tracked (I did move twice in the year 2010). I keep track of my progress in a spreadsheet.

It gives me that same feeling when I check things off my to do list. It keeps me motivated (since it is overwhelming to think of how much scrapping I have left to do.) It's nice to look back and see how much I'm actually getting done.

So what about this year, 2011? I think I will have a goal of 60 events plus any major events from this year (pretty much anything I blog about on our family blog). I might try and focus on working my way from the present to the past since I tried the other way last year. But I will give myself some flexibility, if I want to scrap something randomly, I'll scrap it!

Here's my first completed two page layout of 2011 (I actually did the left last year and the right this year) I am almost done with my sister's wedding, yea!!!

Primary Lullaby Book and Breezy Calendar

Wow, It's been awhile! We moved about 2 weeks ago. Who moves right before Christmas, right? Well life has been a whirlwind. It was sort of a sudden move. We decided on Thanksgiving to move, so we didn't have a whole lot of time to prepare. But we are getting settled in! And now that Christmas is done I can get back to unpacking more boxes. Our internet wasn't working to its full capacity for the first week and half, so it was REALLY slow and REALLY frustrating. So I didn't blog about my new releases! First I want to share a project that I had been working on for awhile. I am super excited to show you!

We love singing LDS Primary songs at our house, especially for Family Night on Monday night. But when the kids were babies I loved singing these favorite songs to them before they went to sleep. I've been wanting to make a book with my own art for awhile. My cousin had a baby and it was great motivation to get this done! Because of copyright, I have not included any lyrics, but you can easily add your own! This makes a great baby gift or any gift.

Okay I also had a new release this week and I am so happy with how this one turned out. I did a collaboration with Miki Ferkul aka Microferk Designs. I used her amazing kit, Breezy, and my 2011 Calendar Templates to create 2011 Breezy Calendar Quickpages.

This Calendar measures 8.5 x 11 inches when closed. Each top and each bottom measures 8.5 x 11 inches. The tops and bottoms are separate files. The tops come with two options: one with the month wordart and one blank so you can mix and match if you want. The monthly wordart is included as individual png's. Also, you can use a blank month for your cover. This is a clean, simple, elegant, classic calendar. Using calendar quickpages is so quick because all you have to do is add your pictures and if you want to add your personal birthdays before you print, you can--but it is just as easy to write them in later!

Happy DSD! Just wanted to remind you of our 40% off sale and our scavenger hunt quickpage give away.

I am so tired! I am in charge of our church roadshow, which is a 15 minute skit with music and dancing, but it's a lot of work! I was trying to get away with not doing the scenery but couldn't find anyone to head it up. I did find somebody to help so that was good. We had a rehearsal this morning and it went pretty well! The performance is next week and I'm looking forward to that. My daughter is dancing in it and she is so cute!

I've been working on a new kit, and I'm so excited for it to come out next week, but tomorrow I will have a new template pack for you!

Okay so I totally ignored my blog this last weekend, sorry! I barely got my kit done for the Designer Apprentice contest at Digi Scrap Addicts. I had no spare minutes to let you know about my new release, and then we took a very last minute trip up to Utah, seven hours away. We weren't even there for 24 hours, but it was worth it to see my husband's grandma one more time. Our three kids actually did pretty good on the drive and were excited about getting out of school early. We literally decided and left within 2 1/2 hours. But now we are back, so here's to catching up.

I had so much fun scrapping my sister's wedding with Aloha Nui Loa, which is still available as a freebie until the end of the contest. Now I need to finish scrapping the rest of the photos!

And here is my kit for challenge 4 for Designer Apprentice. We had to create a kit that represents our home town. I went to high school in Lake Elsinore, so I decided to do a lake kit. Lake Elsinore wasn't the greatest lake, it was a little green, but I have lots of fun memories there. I wasn't too happy with how the kit turned out, but I've actually scrapped with it (in the car while my husband was driving), and I think I'm just not happy with this preview since I just threw it together to meet the deadline. I made some quickpages using my first kit from the Designer Apprentice contest at Digi Scrap Addicts. The Daffodil Principle Quickpages are now available at Scrapbook-Elements and will be 25% off until Monday night.

I also made another temple set: West Pacific Temples. This element pack includes five LDS (Latter-day Saint) temples based off of the temples located in the western part of the USA. There are three temples from Washington: Seattle, Spokane, and Columbia River. The other two temples are in Portland, Oregon and Laie, Hawaii. The temple based off of the Spokane, Washington temple looks like several other temples, including Medford, Oregon; Monticello, Utah; Fresno,California; Kona, Hawaii and probably others. These elements can be used for many different purposes. Scrap your pictures of visits to your local temple, wedding photos, handouts for church, wedding gifts, wall art for your home, and so on.

I have two freebies this week! Here's my mini kit for Challenge 3 for Designer Apprentice. I had a lot of fun with this challenge. We were given a color palette, and we got to pick the theme. I don't know if I would ever pick these colors, but I loved working with them! Download HERE.

We took family pictures at the beach, (I actually took the pictures), but I used Breezy Mini Kit by Microferk Designs, (who also sells at Scrapbook-Elements) and it was such a pleasure to work with. She is an amazing designer. So those layouts are what inspired Formal Template Set #1, available at Scrapbook-Elements 40% off for three days (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday), as part of our huge Labor Day Sale!!!

California Temples Elements

I've been working on temples. Here is a pack of California Temple elements, available at Scrapbook-Elements. This elements pack includes six LDS (Latter-day Saint) temples based off of the temples located in California, USA. The cities where these temples are located are Los Angeles, Newport Beach, Oakland, Redlands, Sacramento, and San Diego. These are great for wedding photos, visits to temple grounds, cards, handouts, wedding gifts, etc...so many uses! This pack will be on SALE 25% off for two days, until Monday night.

Here is a page with the Redlands temple that I just scrapped! For this layout I used my I Do Kit, It's a Girl Mini Kit, and A Name and a Blessing Mini Kit. Those swirls will be in a template pack coming out soon.
